Our platform is built on OpenSim, a widely used open-source software for musculoskeletal simulation that has supported thousands of researchers and professionals worldwide for over 15 years [Delp et al. 2007, Seth et al 2018]. We use a musculoskeletal model from the OpenSim library that incorporates physiologically accurate joint definitions. This means that joints are constrained to move in ways that reflect real human anatomy—for example, the hip can rotate in three directions but cannot translate, just like a ball-and-socket joint in the human body. We use a scientifically-validated musculoskeletal model that has 36 degrees of freedom [Rajagopal 2016, Lai et al. 2017, Uhlrich et al. 2022]
